Can you recommend any Planting Date Guides?

What are the best resources you have found for planting dates for various areas? (We are in KY)

We use a planting date guide put out by our local garden store. This store is more expensive than Lowe’s or the big chain garden stores, but they carry lots of heirloom seeds and herbs, only high-quality plants, and the garden advisors really know their stuff! I really recommend you find some local expertise and get their information. Growing tomatoes is completely different in North Texas than in Kentucky!

If you can’t find any good local resources… for us, my best backup is the Texas Gardening “Bible” – this really great book all about Texas gardening. So, maybe Kentucky garden experts have put together a good volume for you guys?

Last resort – The Southern Living Garden Book. They’ve really worked hard to put together a volume that would be super-useful for all of us in the South, and considering how much ground they’re covering, I think they’ve done a pretty good job. You’ll just find information specific to you locality so much more reliable!

I hope that helps!
